Sandercock Set For Title Defense Season

Thursday - April - 2015

BELLEVILLE (April 23, 2015) – Coming off the most successful season of his young racing career, Charlie Sandercock is prepared to defend his trio of 2014 championships.

Sandercock’s 2015 season is scheduled to kickoff with a pair of season-openers May 1-2. The season opener at Lafargeville, NY’s Can-Am Speedway on Friday will lead to the lid lifter at Sandercock’s home track at Brighton (Ont.) Speedway on Saturday.

The Belleville, Ont. native won track championships at Brighton and at Can-Am in 2014. He also won the Go Nuclear! Late Model Challenge tour championship.

“We’re looking forward to getting going for the 2015 season,” Sandercock said. “Last year was definitely a stellar year, but you always look forward to try and do something bigger and better.”

Sandercock has yet to hit the track in his Bellevue Fabricating sponsored No.57 in 2015. His last race was in a Chub Frank-owned car at the World of Outlaws World Finals in Charlotte, NC.

The 28-year-old pilot isn’t worried though. The team made minimal changes over the bitterly cold Canadian winter. After all, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

“We kind of just freshened some stuff and went over the cars. Everything worked well last year so we didn’t want to mess around with too much,” he said.

The team will tackle a busy schedule with weekly stops at Can-Am on Fridays and Brighton on Saturdays while following the entire Go Nuclear! tour. Sandercock enters the season a marked man following his 2014 success.

“We’re still going to go in with the same attitude and the same head of steam,” he said. “We’re here to win the race and do what we can. If we win, we win.”

For the first time in series history, three former Go Nuclear! champions will be in the field when the series takes the green flag. The series’ inaugural champion, Lee Gill, returns to action after a brief hiatus and will join Sandercock and two-time titleholder Dale Caswell.

“It will be cool to have a lot of good competition out there,” said Sandercock. “Throw a guy like Lee Gill in to the mix, it just adds to the challenge.”

With both Brighton and Can-Am running under RUSH Late Model rules for the first time this season, Sandercock hopes to challenge on some tour races. Right now, the team plans to run tour races at Fulton (NY) Speedway, as well as Merrittville and Humberstone Speedways on the Niagara Peninsula. He isn’t ruling out a trip to Pennsylvania, or further south, to battle the RUSH tour regulars.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do with some of the RUSH stuff and see if we can put ourselves on the top of the RUSH charts,” said Sandercock.

Sandercock also plans to tackle the World of Outlaws Late Model Series when they make stops at Brighton and Cornwall Motor Speedway on June 20 and 21, respectively.

In the mean time, Sandercock is eager to return to victory lane. If he carries any momentum from the 2014 season, it won’t take long.
